Hmm. The top one is maybe a little too geometric. I think you should add something organic and curvy to make it more dynamic. And on the bottom one I keep wanted to make circus smaller.
Also, maybe try putting 'we were on our way to school' all going in the same direction. It's kinda hard to read. Or maybe just put 'on our way to school' and it can start big and keep getting smaller towards the end of the street. Does this make any sense?

Okay, so I think I just figured out how you can make the top one more organic....the part where you have type in the shape of the route you took, type it on a slightly curved path! voila!
